Mentoring to MB Mentors' Art Shore: a mix of insight and reality

Mentorship is a rewarding practice for both the mentor and the mentee. Art Shore, a co-founder of the non-profit MB Mentors, an Elevate HennepinSM advisor organization, says mentoring is a way for successful founders and executives to share what they’ve learned with the business community that has given them so much.

“A number of us were either corporate executives or started our own small businesses and grew and sold them,” said Shore, who is one of MB Mentors more than 20 mentors and team members. “This is our way of helping the business community that we all prosper from and grew out of.”

He said small business advising through Elevate HennepinSM is especially engaging. He and MB Mentors offer no-cost services as a part of the initiative.

Sometimes it’s sharing that wealth of experience to help a business go further, and sometimes it’s a dose of reality for a hopeful entrepreneur. Either way, Shore said it’s important and meaningful work.

“We really are interested in the person, their livelihood, and helping them if this is their dream,” said Shore.
