Commercial ownership assistance program

Hennepin County is expanding its technical assistance offerings to support commercial real estate ownership among established small businesses at the early stages of assessing the feasibility of acquiring a specific property.

Eligible small businesses seeking to acquire commercial real estate for their own use and occupancy in Hennepin County and who demonstrate a matching financial commitment can access up to $10,000 value in consulting services from real estate finance experts and other property acquisition experts, including:

• Evaluating the financial feasibility of acquisition and ownership
• Identifying building conditions and architectural needs, and
• Understanding the process of property ownership

Businesses must be a for-profit business registered with the State of Minnesota with a minimum of three years of operational revenue; have fewer than 100 employees; demonstrate financial commitment to the project totaling at least a 1:1 match; and demonstrate hardship and need for the consulting services. The project size must be under $5 million and located within Hennepin County.

• Is the property in question located in Hennepin County?
• Will this property be used for your own use and occupancy?
• Does your business have 3+ years of operating, revenue-generating history?
• Do you need support assessing the feasibility of acquiring the property for your business?
• Have you committed or are you prepared to commit at least a 1:1 match in value of consulting services?
