Since Hennepin County launched Elevate Hennepin, our advisor network and cohort facilitators have supported 5,264 unique business owners in cities across Hennepin County. These entrepreneurs leveraged one-on-one advising, cohorts, workshops, and on-demand learning. Those efforts have resulted in the launch of 402 businesses, $55.8 million in facilitated financing, and the creation of 2,236 local jobs.

Key statistics from Elevate Hennepin as of mid-year 2026.

In the first half of 2026, more than 1,000 entrepreneurs connected with Elevate Hennepin, tapping into adaptable, personalized support to navigate challenges and build stronger businesses. This collaboration means any resident can find dedicated, expert consulting and peer connection to start and grow their business from Medina to Minneapolis and from Bloomington to Hanover, as seen in the map to the right.

Equitable, agile support in a time of need

Elevate Hennepin is committed to advancing Hennepin County’s vision of inclusive economic opportunity with no barriers to entry. So far this year, 63% of entrepreneurs we served were people of color, reflecting the mission to ensure every resident has access to the tools, expertise and pathways needed to thrive.

Our users represent every stage of business growth. Many are early‑stage entrepreneurs earning under $50,000, while others report revenues over $1 million. This range underscores how Elevate Hennepin provides guidance to meet people exactly where they are.

The beginning of the year was very challenging for the business community, especially Latino-owned businesses, which struggled with major disruptions due to Operation Metro Surge.

Elevate Hennepin saw a dramatic uptick in those seeking guidance, especially around understanding and applying for the various relief funding opportunities. Elevate Hennepin advisors helped businesses navigate legal questions, update accounting systems, manage HR, diversify revenue, and rethink operations and build resilient practices.

“I am so grateful for the support and insight for me and my business while I navigate hurdles and uncertainties in an unstable climate!”

Confident steps forward

The first half of 2026 served as a reminder that it’s impossible to foresee all the challenges facing local small businesses, but above all, we seek to help entrepreneurs take their next steps with confidence.

We’re proud to see the results of our latest satisfaction survey showing most Elevate Hennepin advisees are very likely to recommend advising to their network, and the vast majority are more confident to take the next step for them and their business.
