Diversion strategies for Minneapolis food businesses
Homegrown Minneapolis invites chefs, restaurant owners, and food business leaders to a free event focused on reducing food waste through smart diversion practices.
As part of the “86” Food Waste series, this session is designed to support Minneapolis restaurants, cafes, bakeries, caterers, food trucks, and similar businesses in reducing food waste and improving sustainability. Attendees will hear from peers who are successfully tackling food waste and leave with practical, actionable strategies to make a meaningful impact while also benefiting their bottom line.
This session will explore how to set up composting and organics recycling systems, access grant funding, and implement food donation processes. Featured speakers include Ann Hill from Twin Cities Food Justice and Madeleine Partch from Minnesota Waste Wise. Chowgirls Catering will also provide a live demonstration of zero-waste chef stations and composting practices used both back-of-house and at catered events.
Whether you're just getting started or looking to improve your current systems, this event offers inspiration, resources, and real-world examples to help you take action.
Events are free, but RSVPs are required.
