Hatch Bloomington announces top three finalists for 2025

Three community-driven businesses have emerged as finalists in the 2025 Hatch Bloomington pitch competition. 

The top three companies were selected from a large pool of contestants vying for $100,000 in business support from Bloomington to start and grow their business in the city. Two finalists leaned on Elevate Hennepin for support bringing their business ideas to life. 

2025 Finalists were judged on their innovation, cultural depth, and scalable impact by business leaders in Bloomington. The top three include: 

  • BookMother: A bookstore and coffee shop designed as a third space for adults. Founder Twila Dang hopes to expand her digital footprint with a brick-and-mortar space. Twila hopes , BookMother becomes  a cultural anchor in the Twin Cities. To support her growth plan, Twila worked with Elevate Hennepin aAdvisor A.M. & Associates for guidance and joined CEO Start to learn business fundamentals.
  • Nunaa: An African restaurant offering authentic cuisine, catering, and takeout. Founders Raissa and Shaban Laban aim to bring their bold flavors to Bloomington. Founders worked with Elevate Hennepin advisor JLLB Media to strengthen their business strategy and marketing presence.
  • Twin Cities Streetwear: A retail and event-based business rooted in sneaker culture. Founder Shlok Mehta is building a Twin Cities Streetwear into a lifestyle brand and has plans for multiple store locations, a mobile sneaker bus, and annual festivals.

According to Hatch Bloomington leaders, these finalists represent the next wave of entrepreneurial energy in Minnesota; businesses that are not only viable, but visionary. Their journeys reflect the power of community support, strategic guidance, and bold creativity. 

Vote for the winner
The final pitch event will be held on Tuesday, September 3 at 6 p.m. at Bloomington Civic Plaza. The public is invited to attend, cast their votes, and help decide which finalist will receive funding and support to bring their vision to life. Voting will remain open through September 9, with the winner announced on September 10.
