Minnesota innovation through MN Cup

Minnesota’s entrepreneurial spirit is on full display as the MN Cup, the nation’s largest statewide startup competition, launches its 2026 season. Hosted by the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management, MN Cup is a community led, public–private partnership that connects emerging founders with mentorship, education, and seed capital to accelerate their ventures. More than 25 companies shared over $400,000 in prize funding in 2025, demonstrating the scale and impact of this statewide initiative.

Applications for the 2026 MN Cup season will open March 10 and close April 3, giving early-stage founders across Minnesota a month-long window to submit their ideas and join the state’s largest entrepreneurial community.

For nearly two decades, MN Cup has served as a launchpad for early-stage businesses across Minnesota supporting entrepreneurs at every stage, from idea to revenue generating enterprise. The competition is free to enter, takes no equity, and provides access to a robust network of advisors, industry experts, and investors. This model has helped thousands of founders gain traction, refine their business models, and bring innovative solutions to market.

Founders interested in learning more about MN Cup’s mission, structure, and impact can explore the program at the MN Cup About page. Those who want to stay informed about key dates, events, and application updates can sign up for notifications here.
