6,000 pounds of food waste diverted at Midtown Global Market
Five businesses at Midtown Global Market in Minneapolis have launched organics recycling through a Hennepin County grant, marking a meaningful step toward more sustainable business operations. In just the first month, the new bins helped divert 6,000 pounds of food waste from the trash. Elevate Hennepin celebrates this progress and thanks Minneapolis Food Forward for helping connect these businesses to the opportunity.Through Hennepin County’s program, businesses and organizations can select up to $3,000 in containers and compostable bags to start or expand organics recycling. This support helps local entrepreneurs reduce waste, lower disposal costs, and contribute to a healthier community, values that align closely with Elevate Hennepin’s commitment to strengthening resilient, forward‑thinking small businesses.
